Union Textile Minister Kavuru Sambasiva Rao has said that government is taking steps to increase textile exports to 100 billion dollars in five years. He was speaking to reporters after attending a function organized by Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council in Erode Tamil Nadu today. He said that a textile processing plant worth 70 crore rupees will be set up after getting approval of cabinet. The Minister said that the centre is ready to give 500 crore rupees to set up textile processing plants in Tirupur and Erode regions. He also said that 1900 crore rupees has been sanctioned for skill development in textile sector. Textile Development Fund will be disbursed within a fortnight, the Minister added.
