Govt working on proposal to cut petro product consumption by half by 2020: Moily

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dr M Veerappa Moily has called for auditing of all energy sources, including petroleum products in the country. Inaugurating the Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight-2013 in New Delhi this morning, Dr Moily said the government is working on a proposal for 50 per cent reduction in the consumption of petroleum products by 2020 and to make the country self sufficient by the year 2035. He said energy auditing is needed to find out the quantum of unproductive and wasteful energy sources.Dr Moily, who administered a pledge to several students at the function that they should educate people on how to make use of scarce energy sources. He suggested that the concept of conservation of energy sources should be a part of students curriculum . Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Mrs Panabaka Laskshmi also spoke on the occasion.
