Govt. working on honorable, equitable and acceptable solution of Kashmir problem: HM

The Government today reiterated its commitment to end the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir by finding a unique solution for the state. Addressing the media in Srinagar, the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram said that the government is willing to talk to every section of political opinion in the state.<br/>He, however, added that the dialogue should be a quite diplomacy, away from the media glare. He said, there is no place for violence in the state despite differences in political outlook. He said, the unique solution will be found out recognising the unique history and geographical location of Jammu and Kashmir.<br/>Mr. Chidamabram added that the solution, on which the government is working, will be honorable, equitable and acceptable to the vast majority of the people in the state.<br/>In reply to a question on past round table conferences and their outcome, he said the recommendations were imbibed in the reconstruction plan for the state. Dwelling on infiltration from across the border, he said, there is spurt in these activities but the government is committed to reduce it to the barest minimum.<br/>He said, maintaining law and order is the primary responsibility of the Jammu and Kashmir police but the deployment of security forces will depend on security situation. The Home Minister also laid stress on re-training of the security forces to handle civilian protests effectively.He said, there is a marked improvement in the security scenario in comparision to last five-six years and government is taking all efforts to bring a lasting peace in the state.<br/>Elaborating on the Prime Minister's comprehensive economic reconstruction plan worth 25,000 crore rupees, he said, close monitoring will be done for its effective implementation. Mr.Chidambaram added that secretaries from Government of India will visit the state from next month to oversee the implementation of the package in the areas like agriculture, health, education, drinking water, tourism<br/>and employment generating industries.
