Parliament today rejected the motion opposing FDI in multi-brand retail. After two days debate in the Rajya Sabha, 123 members cast their votes against while 109 in favour to the motion moved by Opposition. Lok sabha earlier rejected the motion. Replying the debate in the House, Commerce Minister, Mr. Anand Sharma while dismissing opposition criticism, asserted that all stake-holders including Chief Ministers were consulted before taking a decision of allowing 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail.
