The government is committed to the revival of BSNL so that it can play an effective role in providing affordable public communication services.
Communication Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed the Rajya Sabha today that BSNL is expanding its mobile network across the country through installation of 15 million lines at a cost of 4,804 crore rupees under Phase-VII expansion plan.
Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister assured adequate financial support to strengthen telecom connectivity to North-Eastern parts of the country. He said, about five thousand three hundred sixty six crore rupees have been allocated for the purpose.
