Govt will give appropriate response on 2G to apex court: Cong

Congress said it is wrong and unfair to say that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has not taken action against the former Telecom Minister in the 2G spectrum case. The party’s comments came after the Supreme Court's remarks on delay by the Prime Minister in acting on plea for sanction of prosecution of A Raja in the case. Party spokesperson Manish Tewari told media persons in New Delhi that even before the CAG report was tabled in Parliament, which was the first official public document on the issue, it was the Prime Minister who secured the resignation of the Telecom Minister.Replying to a specific question about the apex court's observations, he said the Supreme Court has asked the government a question and the government will give an appropriate reply in the court.Earlier senior BJP leader L K Advani urged the Prime Minister to come out in public with his response to the Apex court’s observations on 2G Spectrum allocation. The CPI(M) Politburo also said that the Prime Minister should explain in Parliament how this murky affair was allowed to go on for so long.Meanwhile the main opposition BJP has stuck to its demand of a JPC probe into all corruption cases including the 2G scam. The ruling congress and the government have already rejected the demand describing it untenable. The government convened an all party meeting on Tuesday to break the logjam on the issue in Parliament but there was no consensus.
