The government today hit back at the Congress saying the alleged telecom scam was the UPA regime's sin that the present dispensation has to clean and it will do every bit to recover every single penny. <br/><br/>Speaking to media in New Delhi, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said, everyone knows who was running the government between 2006 to 2010 and the CAG report speaks about irregularities that happened during this period. Mr Sinha said inefficiency of previous government was exposed by the very fact that they did not come to know that right revenue was not being realised.<br/><br/>Congress yesterday had alleged a staggering 46,000 crore rupees telecom scam and that Narendra Modi government was surreptitiously taking steps to protect the interests of six leading telecom companies which owe the money to the public exchequer.<br/><br/>Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was earlier handling the telecom portfolio, termed Congress allegation as motivated and desperate. He assured that government will recover all dues along with penalty from telecom companies, without protecting anyone.<br/> <br/>Meanwhile Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a facebook post said, CAG report was received by Telecom Department in February this year and its supporting documents last month. He said, the report and th documents are now being scrutinised to enable the Department to take further action. He also said, that the CAG report is before the Public Accounts Committee. <br/><br/>The report had stated that the six telecom service providers had underreported their revenues to the tune of 46 thousand crore rupees. It has resulted in loss of nearly five thousand crore rupees to government share in liscence fee and spectrum user charges.
