<span style="color: #222222;">Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy today said the government will decide on the recommendation of Law Commission regarding abolition of capital punishment after reaching broad consensus with all the States. Law Commission had earlier recommended abolition of death penalty, except in cases of terrorism and waging war against the country. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Replying to a debate on a private member's bill – the Abolition of Capital Punishment (Amendment), Bill,2019 in the Rajya Sabha, Mr Reddy said that the Centre wrote to all the States in 2015 to know their views with regard to the Commission's recommendation. He said, so far fourteen States have submitted their views and 90 per cent of them are in favour of the death penalty. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Reddy said, the death penalty is given as per the existing law and the Supreme Court awards it in rarest of the rare cases relating to factors like manner, motive, magnitude of crime and aberration.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Later on the Minister's appeal, Pradeep Tamta of the Congress who had moved the bill, withdrew it.</span><br />''
