The government has said that it will consider the TRAI recommendations for 20 per cent Foreign Direct Investment in news broadcasting. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has reiterated that second round of auction of FM channels will not be on the lines of 3G as it is not a profit making venture for the government. She said that radio is the best medium to disseminate information and awareness among the masses and auction will be designed to prevent the big corporate houses from monopolising the new channels.
