Government has come across reports in a section of social media which shows pH values of select food items & tells that people should have more intake of alkaline foods that are above the pH level of the Novel Coronavirus.
”
” The report refers to the findings of research study published in the Journal of Virology & Anti viral Research.
”
” This is FAKE NEWS & is Factually incorrect.
”
” The research report referred to in the Journal of Virology & Anti viral Research is related to a completely different coronavirus – Mouse Hepatitis Virus Type-4 or MHV-4 & not COVID-19. The report was published way back in 1991.
”
” The pH values in the report are incorrect. pH of lemon is 2, it is acidic in nature and contains citric acid, while the report shows pH of 9.9 for lemon.
”
” The pH of garlic is 5.8 while it says pH of 13.2 for garlic.
”
” pH of lime is 2 while the table shows it as 8.2.
”
” Nothing has a pH beyond 14 while the report says Avocado has pH of 15.6 and Dandelion has pH of 22.7.
”
” No research report regarding use of more alkaline food intake to combat Corona virus has been validated.
”
” The report on social media says increase your intake of the alkaline foods to help boost your immune system. It is a well established fact that fruits are generally good for immunity because of their antioxidant content. However extrapolating the same for any food is incorrect.
”
”Be aware of such misinformation & Do not fall for such news. Stay Home, Stay Safe.
