Govt wants PSU oil companies to set up largest refinery in Maharashtra

Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had asked Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL to get ready to set up the largest refining and petrochemicals complex in the public sector before 2017 end in costal Maharashtra. He was talking to reporters during an event to dedicate the fourth crude distillation unit of BPCL set up in Mumbai. He further said that the plant would be built in such a manner that it will be a global oil and petchem hub.He also mentioned that being the largest growth driver of oil consumption, it is in the interest of Maharashtra, which does not have a single large refinery on its long coastline to house the largest refinery and petchem complex.
