Govt using technology to overcome challenges of sanitation: Secy Iyer

Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Parameswaran Iyer has said that Government is trying to overcome the challenges of sanitation in the country through technology, local participation of state governments and local bodies. <br/><br/>Speaking at the Talkathon programme organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in New Delhi today, Mr Iyer said, through virtual classroom technology, Government is focusing on capacity building. <br/><br/>He said, virtual classrooms have been started in districts to train people on the cutting edge in behavior change communication. Mr Iyer said, his Ministry is trying to work with states on convergence of all schemes to clean up 100 iconic places in India. <br/><br/>He said, for the first time in the country the Prime Minister has put sanitation on top of his agenda and it has made a huge difference. <br/><br/>He said, Swachh Bharat Mission Program leading to enormous health impact but also uplifting the dignity and security of women. He said, in the next ten year the nation will see improved health, women's security and dignity, productivity of Indian youth, and lower child mortality.<br/><br/>Participating in the programme, Urban Development Secretary Rajiv Gauba said, a massive public awareness campaign is going on all over the country and it will strengthened further.<br/><br/>Talkathon is an initiative of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under which participants in the social media space post questions on Twitter which are answered by the guests in real-time
