Govt urges all hospitals to immediately inform NPPA about stents shortage

Government has urged all hospitals, doctors and patients to immediately inform National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, NPPA, about any shortage of stents. <br/><br/>The Authority will initiate action on priority basis to ensure its availability at places of shortage. Checks will be carried out to ensure that the stents are available in hospitals. If required, inspections will also be conducted at the place of business of stent companies, and distributors, hospitals. <br/><br/>The NPPA can be called through toll-free helpline number 1800 111 255. Alternately, complaints can be lodged through grievance redressal system Pharma Jan Samadhan by logging on the NPPA website. The complaint can also be messaged through Whatsapp on mobile number : 9958217773.<br/><br/>In February this year, the NPPA had notified ceiling price of coronary stents bring down the price heavily. All manufacturers and importers are legally obliged to maintain smooth production and supply of coronary stents of all brands which were available in the country before price was capped. <br/>
