Government unveiled tough new air quality norms to combat air pollution. It has placed uniform national air quality standards for residential and industrial areas. The revised norms coming after a gap of 15 years have been <br/>announced by Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh, who called the removal of the distinction between the two areas as very important.<br/> <br/>The announcement of the newly notified Revised National Ambient Air Quality Standards-2009 came just less than a month before the crucial UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen scheduled in December.<br/> <br/> <br/>
