The Government has reiterated that it wants to make the country a strong defence industrial base. Unveiling the defence procurement policy and defence procurement procedure 2011, the Defence Minister Mr. A.K. Antony said that it is the motto of the government to reduce substantial dependence on foreign supply. The Minister informed that according to new policy, there will be hundred per cent competition between the public and private player in the field. Emphasizing the need for modernisation and defence preparedness, Mr. Antony said that the security situation of the country is very volatile. He, however, maintained that the armed forces are prepared for any kind of security threat.
