Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that the Government is trying to bring down the defence procurement process to three years from the present average of five years.

Addressing annual session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi today, Parrikar said government would bring out a comprehensive document on defence procurement procedure (DPP) to the satisfaction of India Inc in general and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in particular.

He urged members of the industry to be critical of the DPP. Their objective criticism would enable the government to make DPP 2015 a document of simplified procedures, which will help in making India self reliant in defence production as well.
