“Govt to use technologies to increase transparency & responsibilities in governance”

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that Government will use new technologies specially Information Technology to remove dishonesty and increase transparency and responsibilities in governance. He was addressing at the launch of function of Aadhar Card enabled services delivery applications at Dudu near Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Dr. Singh said that Aadhar project will provide avenues to social and economic progress for poor people. He said the Card will be an important tool to give identity and people will get facilities through this without any problem. The Prime Minister said that Aadhar will help in better implementation of Government welfare schemes. He announced that Aadhar enabled services will be extended to entire country soon.

On this occasion, UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi handed over 21st crore Aadhar Card to a lady of Udaipur district of Rajasthan. She said that every citizen will get their right through Aadhar Card and poor people will be benefited most with this project. Mrs. Gandhi said that Aadhar Card will rapidly change the life of common man. She said that Aadhar will remove difficulties in getting benefits of Government schemes and this project will help officials also in reaching up to really needy persons.

Addressing the function, Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said that Aadhar will reduce duplication and fraud in Government welfare schemes. On this occasion, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot announced that ten different social welfare schemes of the state will be linked with Aadhar Card from April next year and salary of state government employees will also be linked with Aadhar Card from February.
