Govt to upgrade over 20 ITIs in NE States, Sikkim

Government is working on a scheme for upgradation of over 20 ITIs in North Eastern States and Sikkim. This was revealed by Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Wednesday. He said that the new Centrally sponsored scheme will also look into supplementing infrastructure deficiencies in 28 ITIs in these regions. Mr Kharge added that Director General of Employment and Training, DGE&T will train youth of over 35 districts affected by Left Wing Extremism by training them in various long term and short term courses. DGE&T also plans to set up over 1500 ITIs and 5000 Skill Development Centres on Public Private Partnership mode to train the youth in various parts of the country.
