Govt to unveil new policy for Media and Entertainment Industry: Prasad

Union Minister for Communications and Information and Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad today said the Centre acknowledges the importance and role of Media and Entertainment Industry and believes in fulfilling the dream of digitally connected India.<br/><br/>For this, the government would come-up with policy decisions for bettering the sector and also make necessary financial clearances. He was speaking at the inauguration of three-day FICCI Frames Conference with theme 'Change or Perish-The year of digital' in Mumbai. <br/><br/>Mr. Prasad said the Centre understands that internet is inevitable in today's world . But this should be abused in by few for spreading terror actitivities. He also announced that to facilitate film shooting in the country, a Film Facilitation Centre will be opened in collaboration with the NFDC.<br/><br/>The Minister further suggested that since Indian content has global reach, we should concentrate on quality content. The television rankings (TRPs) must be more fair and reasonable and only real content drives the quality.
