Govt. to take decision on Telangana after Eid: Chidambaram

Government has said that a movement towards a decision on the Telangana issue will take place after the Eid-ul-Zuha festival.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi on Monday, the Home Minister P Chidambaram said Congress General Secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had conveyed to different groups in the state that since the festival season was going on, there has been no movement on the issue.

Eid will be celebrated on November 7.
Regarding AFSPA the Home Minister said that the Congress party plea to hold more consultations on revoking the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir is perfectly understandable.

The Jammu and Kashmir government had earlier hinted to revoke the AFSPA. Mr. Chidambaram said this is part of the Cabinet Committee on Security decisions taken in September last year.

In reply to another question, the Minister said the investigative agencies are looking for three persons in connection with the recent Delhi High Court blast case.

The Home Minister also announced that NIA will not oppose the bail pleas of the nine accused arrested by the police in the 2006 Malegaon bomb blast case.

On tackling the impact of blockade in Manipur, the Minister said on an average 1100 trucks per week are being sent to the state to ferry essential items.
