Govt to sort issues of AI pilots within 3 months

As Air India pilots' strike entered the 12th day, Government has promised to sort out their problems within three months. Appealing to them to join work,Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said creating loss or causing inconvenience to the passengers will not help solve their problems. Instead they should come forward and discuss whatever problems they have. He was talking to reporters after inaugurating the new terminal at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow today.

On the issue of reinstating sacked pilots, he promised them that the government will not adopt a victimisation policy. He said the pilots should think about the passengers. If passengers are unhappy, it will create more problems in days to come. If the airline does not survive then there is no meaning of talking about other things like salary, promotion or increment,” he said.

He also pointed out to the constitution of the Justice Dharmadhikari committee to look in to their problems and said the report of the committee is expected and therefore , there is no reason for the pilots to strike work.

Ajit Singh also said that the Delhi High Court had already declared the ongoing strike as illegal and the pilots must abide by the law. The government has given a package of 30,000 crore rupees for the revival of AIR INDIA. But money alone will not make a difference. The airline has to be competitive and pay attention to the cost, he said.
