The government will soon come out with a national policy on corporate governance. Announcing this at a function in New Delhi today, Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily said the policy will come out in two months. Noting that good corporate governance is a strategic necessity, Mr Moily said the government-appointed panel, headed by the President of Confederation of Indian Industry Adi Godrej, has recommended 17 guiding principles on corporate governance and they are being looked at. These principles cover various aspects such as the responsibilities of independent directors and the functioning of a company's board.
