Government has proposed to set up sports academies at national level to inculcate sports talents in the country. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal said setting up of the academies is now at planning stage. <br/><br/>He said Ministry has also formulated and issued National Sports Talent Search Scheme for identification of sporting talent among students from early age. He informed the House that Sports Authority of India also conducts sports talent identification through its various sports promotional schemes.
