Govt to set up NHSRA for High Speed Rail Projects

The Ministry of Railways has decided to set up a National High Speed Rail Authority for planning, implementing and monitoring of High Speed Rail Projects in the country. The government has selected six corridors for conducting pre-feasibility studies to implement the projects.

The railway Ministry sources said that bids have been invited and many domestic as well as foreign firms have participated in them.

The corridors include Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar, Pune-Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Hyderabad-Dornakal-Vijaywada-Chennai,Chennai-Bangalore-Coimbatore Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram, Howrah-Haldia and Delhi-Agra-Lucknow-Varanasi-Patna.

The source said that out of six corridors, consultants for four have been selected and studies are at various stages of progress.
