The government will set up a National Institute of Sports Science and Medicine, NISSM at the premises of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi at a cost of 200 crore rupees. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Ajay Maken said the institute will aims at developing the much needed disciplines of Physchology, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Biomedical and Sports Medicine for providing cutting edge excellence to Indian Sports and athletes. The Minister also announced the setting up a National Institute of Hockey at the Dhyan Chand Stadium in Delhi to impart training and coaching to players.
