The Union ministry of Urban Development will select 20 cities under the SMART city project next month. Hence, 98 shortlisted cities in the country have stepped up efforts to come under the first 20 cities by projecting impressive innovative proposals. The cultural, educational and literary epicenter of North Karnataka, Dharwad has found a place under the smart city project. <br/><br/>With IIT and IIIT coming up in Dharwad, the city administration is making all out effort to project itself as a potential contender among the 20 cities in the first phase. The municipal administration has kept suggestion boxes in 80 locations in the twin city and public suggestions are collected in a format. Mygov.in has registered over 1200 submissions from the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad. <br/><br/>An advisory committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner had been formed for the implementation of the smart city project. Workshops are being conducted in 12 zones to create awareness among the public about the project. The surveying and preparing of the blue print of the smart city project is under preparation which will be submitted to the ministry by November 15.
