The government will soon roll out a technology-driven  futuristic initiative to make hassle-free air travel for passengers. Under the Digi Yatra, to be introduced in February next year,  passengers can enter airports on the basis of facial bio-metrics. <br />'' <br />''Speaking at a function in New Delhi today, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said biometrics usage will be completely voluntary in nature. It will help passengers in avoiding long queues at the security and baggage checks and boarding gates. The minister said, the passenger friendly system will eliminate several old security measures at the airports. <br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Civil Aviation Secretary R N Choubey said the roll-out of the system will take place in phases. In the first phase in February 2019, Hyderabad and Bengaluru will have the system in place. In the second phase, in April, the Airports Authority of India will roll out the initiative at selected airports and later on, all airports will adopt the system. He also said the initiative could lead to reduction in expenditure.</span>
