Govt. to review functioning of FCI and Central Warehousing Corp.

The Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prof K V Thomas has said that the functioning of Food Corporation of India and Central Warehousing Corporation is being reviewed to strengthen it further. Addressing a press conference at Thiruvananthapuram he said that complaints of states about availability food grains are addressed with utmost concern. The FCI godowns of Kerala has rice stock for three months and that of wheat for one year. The minister said that any complaint of the state about quality of food grains will be sorted out. Prof Thomas saidthat the proposed Act on fishing in the waters of Exculsive Economic Zone and beyond will not affect the interest of fishermen in Kerala.
