Power Ministry has initiated several measures to promote energy efficiency in lighting sector.According to an official release, the Ministry has decided to provide bulbs using LED technology to households under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyuthikaran Yojana (RGGVY).Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Energy Efficiency Services Limited have worked with electricity distribution companies to develop a business model to procure LED bulbs in bulk and sell them to households at Rs. 10 instead of Rs. 400.Light Emitting Diode (LED) are emerging as the most energy-efficient source of lighting with a LED bulb using one tenth of energy consumed by a normal incandescent bulb.
