Maharashtra government is to ply over 935 tankers to meet the shortage of drinking water in parts of 9 districts. Over 840 villages and 4300 hamlets are said to be reeling under the acute shortage of drinking water there.The state government is also making efforts to make water available in other places of the region by acquiring private wells. This water scarcity in the region is likely to worsen with small, medium and large reservoirs are drying up. Dams in the marathwada region have only 16 percent water now.In vidharba region, 725 dams have water level up to 20 percent. Nasik and Pune regions too face water shortage. Over 943 dams there have only 21 percent of water.
