The government will select 1000 talented young athletes and spend Rs 5 lakh per year on the training of each of them. This was announced by the Sports Minister Vijay Goel during an interaction at the Women's Press Club (IWPC) in New Delhi on Friday. He said, the selected athletes will be funded by the government for eight consecutive years. Mr. Goel, said that talent will be identified every year and they will be added to the scheme.Mr. Goel urther said Sports Ministry's Talent Search Portal is ready and soon it will be launched. The Sports Minister also announced that a five-member High Powered Committee has been constituted to look into grievances of sports women.
