The government says a national permit scheme will be implemented for vehicles. This will facilitate hassle free movement of trucks and buses and the states will share the composite fee of this scheme. Addressing media persons in New Delhi this evening after the meeting of 32nd transport development council, the surface transport minister Mr Kamal Nath urged all the states to form road safety councils.<br/><br/>This will help in reducing the number of road accidents. The minister also informed that he told the state PWD ministers that the national highway projects would be withdrawn from those states where the land acquisition issue is a problem.
