Government is proposing to set up a facility to monitor the broadcast content on FM Radio channels during the 12th Five year plan. This was stated by the Information and Broadcasting Secretary Uday Kumar Verma while speaking at a function in New Delhi on Monday. He said there is a need to monitor radio content as nearly 800 more FM channels are likely to come up in the next three years. He said, the whole world of monitoring of radio content is still to be addressed in a meaningful manner. Mr Verma said private channels in the coming days would get a go-ahead to broadcast news which attaches more importance to content monitoring.
Later talking to AIR, Mr Verma said, the Centre is hopeful of achieving the target of cable digitization by this month-end. He said, more than 80 per cent cable TV digitization has been achieved so far in the 4 Metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Mr Verma said, all stakeholders are extending their cooperation to the ministry in this direction.
