Govt. to modernize Metrological forecast

A new initiative to modernize the Metrological forecast is being launched soon. This will also help to keep a close watch on the impact of climate change. This was revealed by the Earth Sciences Minister Mr Prithviraj Chavan while inaugurating new High Performance Computer System at the Metrological department’s headquarter in New Delhi today.<br/><br/>He said 14 new Doppler Radars would be installed during the year for the purpose. The Minister said that government is largely focusing on increasing research and development to make the weather predictions more accurate. Stating that the high level of economic growth in recent years has provided enough fiscal resources for investment in scientific researches, Mr Chavan said the allocation for scientific research is likely to be increased in the coming budget. Stating that there are no financial constraints, the Minister said that the focus is now on creating more human resource for research and development. He said that government is planning to launch many scholarship programmes to attract the best brains to the field of science and technology.
