Govt to make law to prevent communal violence says Chidambaram

<br/>The Home Minister today said that the government wants the law to prevent Communal Violence in place by the end of this year. While inaugurating Annual Conference of State Minorities Commision in New Delhi, P Chidambaram said that the government is willing to incorporate suggestions to make it more effective. The Communial Violence bill which was first introduced in 2005 was reintroduced in Rajya Sabha in December last year. Mr Chidambaram said that in the new bill, the rehabilitiation of the victims is being kept as a priority. He said 13 states have set up minorities commission and urged all other state governments to set up Minorities Commision. Speaking on the occasion, Miniority affairs minister, Salman Khursheed said 90 districts in the country have been identified where minority population is above 25 per cent. He said in those districts developmental works will be speeded up to raise their standard of living. Chairman of the national commission for minorities, Mohamed Shafi Qureshi, said concerted efforts are required to implement the recommendations of the Sachar committee in letter and spirit.<br/>
