Govt to make cleanliness people's mission: Narendra Singh

Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said government will make cleanliness a people's mission. <br/><br/>Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today. Mr Tomar said, cleanliness is very critical for the country's development and the government is aiming to make it as an integral part of every individual's behavior. <br/><br/>Briefing on MGNREGA he said, about fifty lakh assets created through MGNREGA have been geo-tagged which would help in tracking and better monitoring.<br/><br/>The Minister termed arsenic and flouride affected drinking water as a major problem. He said the government has fixed a time line to redress the situation in the next four years. <br/><br/>He said the government is working to provide safe, clean drinking water and has evolved various schemes in this regard. The Minister also informed that Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala have announced that they have become Open Defecation Free states.<br/><br/>Ministry of rural development is in the process of issuing a Notification for mandatory capturing of Aadhaar number of the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin. The notification has been vetted by Ministry of Law and Justice, he said.
