Govt. to launch scheme to support overseas workers

The Government is contemplating to launch a scheme to provide benefits like resettlement expenses, insurance cover and pension to overseas Indian workers on their return to the motherland. This was stated by the Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs, Vayalar Ravi while addressing a consultative meeting with state governments in New Delhi on Thursday.

Acknowledging the significant contribution of the diaspora community running into billions of dollars, to the Indian economy, the Minister said, the proposed scheme is aimed at supporting them on their return to India.
