The government is launching Mudra Promotion Campaign on pan-India basis in different parts of the country from today. The campaign will continue till 17th of next month. The campaign will start today at Varanasi where Union Minister for Railway and Coal Piyush Goyal will participate in the function. A similar function will be organised on the 2nd of October at Gandhinagar in Gujarat where Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will be present. According to the Ministry of Finance, 50 such campaigns will be organised in different parts of the country where Union Ministers will take part. The Micro Unit Development and Refinance Agency, or MUDRA Scheme was launched to fund and promote microfinance institutions, which would in turn provide loans to small and vulnerable sections of the businesses.
