Govt to launch Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday from April 14 to boost farmers' income

To increase income of farmers and providing them information of schemes related to agriculture, the government will launch mega campaign Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday from 14th of this month. The ten day Abhiyan will be kicked off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of 125th Birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. <br/><br/>Briefing media in New Delhi today, Rural Development Minister Birender Singh said, the campaign aims to generate nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony across villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote rural development and foster farmers' progress. <br/><br/>The Minister said village farmer assemblies will be organised in Gram Panchayat in which information regarding Fasal Bima Yojana and Social Health Card will be provided to the farmers. He said suggestions will be sought from farmers for bringing improvement in the agri-sector. <br/><br/>He informed that record number of two hundred twenty crore man days have been created during the just concluded financial year in MGNREGA. Mr. Singh said women's participation in the employment schme was also a record with 57 percent.
