A new fellowship to improve the condition of the disabled in the country is being launched. It has been named after late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. This was stated by the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik in New Delhi today after inaugurating the 2nd Equal sports meet. He said that ongoing special recruitment drive for the disabled person through DOPT is extended till 30th June of this year. Reiterating Government's committment to provide all basic facilities to them, Wasnik said that there would be no dearth of funds to achieve this objective. AIR correspondent reports that the Government is working on new draft Bill to be introduced in place of the existing People with Disabilty Act 1995. The new Bill will also take into considerations the provisions of United Nation Convention on Right of Persons with Disabilities.
