Environment and Forest Minister Jairam Ramesh today said the government will launch a dedicated satellite to measure Green House Gas Emission by 2012. <br/><br/>Speaking at a national Workshop of Indian Network for Climate Change Assessment, Mr. Ramesh said government will also launch a dedicated forestry satellite by 2020-30 in collaboration with ISRO. <br/><br/>The satellite will monitor aforestation and deforestation. Lamenting the dearth of environmental journals in the country, the minister called for greater capacity buliding in publishing world class scientific journals. He stated that this endeavour would equip India to trigger rigourous debate on climate change on the global front. <br/><br/>Deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia released a report- India; Greenhouse Gas Emissions 2007.
