The union government will introduce a health mission for the urban areas in line with the National Rural Health Mission so that health infrastructure throughout the nation would be developed, the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi said today in Shillong.<br/><br/>Dedicating the North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) to the nation, Sonia said NEIGRIHMS will make up to date health care affordable and more accessible for the people in north east region .She said this institution will play an important part where people does not afford to get special health care services . <br/><br/>Mrs Gandhi said since this institution is being suffering from certain lacunas of staff facility the UPA government with the help its union ministry of health and family welfare will soon take care of it.<br/><br/>She said that UPA is committed to be facilitating all the basic services to lead a productive life with dignity and security. She said along education housing food security and employment UPA government is giving top priority to public health. <br/><br/>She said that a large part of the country do not have timely and formal access for proper health care keeping in view this the union government is going to implement National Urban Health Mission in line with National Rural Health Mission catering the need of the urban people throughout the country.<br/><br/>Mrs. Gandhi earlier inaugurated the new building of the Rajiv Gandhi Congress Bhavan in Shillong and addressed a public meeting in Polo ground today.<br/>
