Centre has ordered further import of 90 thousand Tonne pulses, consisting of forty thousand Masur, twenty thousand each of Tur and Desi Chana and ten thousand tonne Urad for the buffer stock. With this the total import of pulses for the buffer stock has gone up to one lakh 76 thousand tonnes. <br/><br/>The decision was taken in a meeting of Price Stabilization Fund. Consumer Affairs Secretary, Hem Pande today said in New Delhi that domestic procurement of pulses has also reached to one lakh 20 thousand tonne. <br/><br/>Mr Pande said, the government agencies have been directed to gear up for domestic procurement for coming crop of pulses, which is expected to be good this year. He said, so far about 40 thousand tonne have been allocated to the States from the buffer stock for distribution at prices not more than 120 rupees per kilogram. <br/><br/>Inter Ministerial Committee on prices of essential commodities also reviewed availability and prices of essential commodities today. It was observed in the meeting that prices of pulses have come down but are not reflected in retail.
