The Government will import additional 1000 tonnes of onion to check prices. This is in addition to earlier decision of importing 10,000 tonnes of Onion. Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry said in a release that sale of onions at subsidised rates by Delhi government and Mother Dairy will continue till prices come under control. <br/><br/>It said, 100 tonnes of onions is being supplied daily in Delhi. Any difference in the cost of sale operations by the Delhi government and Mother Dairy will be reimbursed from Price Stablization Fund, a central sector scheme. <br/><br/>Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan reviewed prices and availability kitchen staple at a meeting today in New Delhi. Mr Paswan directed officials to continue a close watch on the prices of onions and to initiate required action promptly. The meeting was attended by Secretaries of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Ministries. Senior officials of NCT Delhi Government, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Fedration of India, Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium and Mother Dairy were also present.
