Govt to implement SPC as pilot project at national level: Rajnath

Union Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Ministry of Home Affairs will implement student police cadet (SPC) as a pilot project at national level. He told that the ministry is exploring the possibility of expanding this student training programme and look forward to learn from Kerala's successful experience for a nation wide scaling up of the programme. He was inaugurating India First- Annual Day Celebration of the student police cadet programme in Thiruvananthapuram, today.<br/><br/>He congratulated Kerala Police, Education Department and its partners for initiating this popular programme, which within 5 years has taken its roots in more than 430 schools which trained more than 70000 students so far. <br/><br/>In addition to Kerala, SPC functions in Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka & Rajasthan, Union Home Minister pointed out that SPC has a close parallel in NCC, with a difference that while NCC aims to support national defence, SPC supports effective internal policing and internal security.
