The Directorate General of Civil Aviation – DGCA has called top executives of all Indian carriers for a meeting tomorrow, asking them to explain why they have proposed such high fares. Full-service carriers– Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines– will participate in the meeting. SpiceJet, GoAir and IndiGo officials held discussions with the DGCA yesterday. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai yesterday Union Civil Aviation Minister said air fares that have risen astronomically in the last month will stablise within a week. He said if it is not done the DGCA is empowered to take actions for the benefit of air travellers.
