Govt to hold another round of talk on Hazare’s demand

The Government is to hold another round of talks today with representatives of Anna Hazare to finalise the modalities for constitution of a committee to draft an anti corruption Lokpal Bill. Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for this morning but it has been postponed to this evening. Talks between the government and civil society leaders remained inconclusive yesterday due to differences on some issues. Speaking to reporters after the second round of talks, the government representative and Union Minister Kapil Sibal said, differences persist about the modalities of setting up of joint committee.He said only government officials will be members of the joint drafting committee on Lokpal Bill and that no Minister will be part of it. Mr Sibal, appealed to Anna Hazare to break his fast-unto-death.Today, UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi met Prime minister and discussed on the issue. Mrs Gandhi had earler, appealed to Anna Hazare to give up his fast saying that she was sure that his views will receive the government's full attention in the fight against corruption. Reacting to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi's appeal Anna Hazare had requested the UPA Chairperson to ask the government to get the Lokpal bill enacted at the earliest.
