Government will set up a special group for improving passengers facilities and maintenance at the Chennai airport, which has seen a series of incidents of collapse of glass panels, granite slabs and false ceiling in the last couple of years. Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, the decision was taken following an inspection of the airport by a team of officials recently, which also suggested some changes. <br/><br/>In a tweet, Mr Raju said, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and chairman of Airport Authority of India have inspected Chennai Airport and suggested changes. He said, special group will be set up for improving facilities and maintenance.<br/><br/>The government-run Chennai airport was upgraded and modernised by the Airports Authority of India in 2013 at an investment of over 2,000 crore rupees. The Minister had recently ordered senior ministry and Airports Authority officials to carry out an inspection of the airport and fix the maintenance issues at the earliest. <br/><br/>The airport is facing multitude of problems both relating to structural as well as maintenance since its inauguration.
