Govt to fast track rape, molestation cases against women

The centre today said that it is working out a mechanism to fast track all cases of rape, molestation and others connected with women, disabled and senior citizens. Describing the 19 year period taken in Ruchika molestation case as atrocious and unpardonable, the Law Minister Mr Veerappa Moily said that classification and prioritisation would ensure that such cases are fast tracked in courts. He said a blueprint on legal reforms approved by the Cabinet has mentioned classification of cases for early disposal. He said all cases pending in courts after 1st of January will be treated as arrears. <br/>
