Govt to extend sugar export subsidy till Sept; Also to give additional interest free loans of Rs. 4,400 crore to cash-starved sugar mills

The Centre has decided to extend Sugar Export subsidy of three thousand three hundred rupees per tonne till September.

Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters in New Delhi today that government will give additional interest free loans of four thousand four hundred crore rupees to cash-starved sugar mills to clear dues of cane farmers.

He said, Centre will hike import duty on sugar to 40 per cent from the current 15 per cent.
